Online Meetings and Web conferencing is used to conduct live meetings or presentations via the Internet. In a web conference, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants via the internet. This can be either a downloaded application on each of the attendees’ computers or a web-based application where the attendees access the meeting by clicking on a link distributed by e-mail (meeting invitation) to enter the conference.

A webinar is a  type of web conference. It is typically one-way, from the speaker to the audience with limited audience interaction, such as in a webcast. A webinar can be collaborative and include polling and question & answer sessions to allow full participation between the audience and the presenter. In some cases, the presenter may speak over a standard telephone line, while pointing out information being presented onscreen, and the audience can respond over their own telephones, speaker phones allowing the greatest comfort and convenience. There are web conferencing technologies on the market that have incorporated the use of VoIP audio technology, to allow for a completely web-based communication. Depending upon the provider, webinars may provide hidden or anonymous participant functionality, making participants unaware of other participants in the same meeting..

In the early years of the Internet, the terms “web conferencing” was often used to describe a group discussion in a message board and therefore not live. The term has evolved to refer specifically to live or “synchronous” meetings.

En los años entrantes del Internet, el termino "Coneferencia Web" era utilizado para describir un grupo de discusion de mensajeria pero no en tiempo real. El termino ha desarrollado especilamente en tiempo real para darle vida y sincronizacion a las citas.

Conferencias en Linea y Conferencias via Web es utilizado para conducir citas o presentaciones en vivo via Internet. En una coneferencia via Web, cada participante se situa en su propia PC y se conectan entre si via internet. Puede ser realizado por medio de una aplicacion descargada en cada PC del citado/a o mas bien puede ser realizado mediante una aplicacion incorporada en la web donde el citado/a acede a la cita por medio de click en el link distribuido por el correo electronico (cita de invitacion) para poder aceder a la coneferencia.

Un Seminario-Webes un tipo de conferencia basado en web. es tipicamente un un voleto de ida, del conductor a la audiencia con interacion de uso limitado hacia la audiencia, similar al webcast. Un seminario-Web puede ser coloborativo e incluye polling y preguntas con sesiones de respuestas para permitir completa participacion entre la audiencia y el prsentante. En algunos casos, el presentador puede hablar por medio de una linea telefonica, mientras tocando puntos de informacion al prsentandola en pantalla, y la audiencia puede responder usando su propia linea telefonica, sus vocinas y deademas permitiendodoles comodidad y conveniencia. Existen conferencia de web con tecnologias en el mercado que incorporan el uso de VoIP tecnologia de audio, para permitir comunicacion completa incorporada en la web. Dependiendo del proveedor, Seminario-Web pueden proveer funcionalidad para participantes ocultos o anonimos, sin que los demas participamntes se den cuentan que existen.
